The Bad Plus Portland Concert reviews
RFK is sad, but Foos rocked!
Let me first say, the 5 star rating was worth the concert, hence. The Bad Plus, as always, killed it. Most of them were amazing, but some of the opening acts weren't my taste! Loved Gary Clark Jr, Heart, Joan Jett, Buddy Guy & the 16 year old sensation Quinn Sullivan, & Trombone Shorty. Such a fun show!
The concessions were cash only, which would have been good to know before the show. We brought cash, but not enough to eat & drink for 10 hours. While the fans were unprepared for cash only vendors, the vendors clearly underestimated the thirst & appetites of nearly 50k people. They ran out of beer, lemonade, food...though they did attempt to restock, it really was horrible planning. Oh & speaking of running out of things, the bathrooms were out of toilet paper & paper towels about 2 hours into the event. Food lines were an hour plus long, only for people to get to the front & learn that only a pretzel was left. It's a shadow of it's former self. The venue is just sad. Rust, peeling paint, crumbling stairs, bathrooms that flooded 2 hours into the event.
Now let's talk about RFK & the event organizers. Hopefully if they plan to make this into an annual event, as Dave Grohl mentioned during the show, they will learn from the multiple mistakes from this year's event. And obviously we weren't the only ones who showed up unprepared, since ATMs were running out of money & I spent the 1 hour rain delay standing in an ATM line. VERY poor planning overall.
